The saying may be true that dog is man's best friend, but many can attest to the fact that it doesn't always start out that way! The simple truth is, some dogs are more inclined than others to behave themselves. Regardless, all dogs need some form of training to improve their behavior patterns. Some dogs have the bad habit of tearing up the front yard, while others just can't seem to stay out of the garbage can. Still others appear as though they will never get housebroken. There are even dogs that never seem to take a liking to other human beings, always snarling, growling or even biting strangers and relatives alike. Nevertheless, no dog is beyond training if taught properly how to behave. Starting with dog training basics, dog training problems can be a thing of the past.
The first golden rule when training your dog is to teach your dog its name. Use it on a regular basis, call your dog by its name every time you play with it. Once your dog is aware of its name and comes when called then you are ready to make the leap and begin obedience training. The very next big thing on your priority checklist should be to toilet train and house train your dog. Do you really wish to have to put up with your dog eliminating everywhere in the house for more than you really have to? Of course not, so it is necessary that you deal with this as quickly as you can. Over the course of the training process accidents are inevitable, particularly if you've got a puppy, puppies cannot hold it in that long yet however they'll be able to hold it in longer as they get older. It is your responsibility as a dog owner to simply clean up the mess till your dog has been toilet trained.
This is a very brief overview of training techniques and sequences to use while training your dog the fundamental commands. Repetition will be required several times while training. The increase of distance and duration, as well as the introduction of distractions, will also require repetition. Patience and time will need to be devoted while training these commands. I think you will find that if you begin to train your dog with these fundamental commands, you will find the more technical training will be easier for both you and your dog.
