A good pet house should be a complete weatherproof kennel that shields your pet from unmanageable heat, cold, wind, rain and even precipitation. The conventional houses are made of wood with a triangle roof. Building a house can be fun. However, these days, they are made out of other materials such as plastic and foam. Cedar wood is also being preferred by dog owners these days to make outdoor dog houses. Depending on your budget and your buying capacity, you could go in for economical ones or extravagant dog houses. Whatever type you choose, there is no dearth for dog houses in the market.
Choosing the Perfect Dog House. The most obvious factor to consider when choosing a dog house is the size of your dog. It should be spacious enough for your dog to stretch or to turn around. Don't buy one that is too large for your pet. Your dog will not be comfortable in a large empty space. Think about the places in your house where your dog likes to sleep and try to match that size; these places will usually be nestled into corners, or on landings, or curled up in a dog bed. Try to find the size that will make your dog as comfortable as possible.
No More Guilt. There are times when your dog cannot be in the house, and when you love your pet as much as any other member of the family, you will want your dog to be comfortable day and night in its space. If you have friends or family with dog allergies or if you have a contractor working in your house, you will not want to have your dog inside. If you have ever felt guilty about putting your dog outside, after installing this air conditioner in your dog's house, you will never feel guilty again. Your dog might actually want to spend more time outside with a place to cool off after you install the air conditioning unit. He can romp in the yard at will, knowing he has a private and comfortable place to rest. If you have the house inside a dog-run, your dog can get plenty of exercise and still remain cool and comfy in his very own air conditioned space.
Portable Dog Houses. If you only need a dog house on a temporary basis, you should consider purchasing a portable dog house. Resembling a small tent, they are collapsible and, as the name indicates, light and easy to transport. While not designed to withstand a winter storm, they are usually made of very breathable materials and can provided a convenient and comfortable home away from home when travelling with your dog. If you plan to use a portable dog house while on the road, however, you should get your dog used to using it at home first before trying it in a new place where your dog may feel ill at ease.
The first tip when preparing or implementing the plans to build your dog house is to use material from licensed dealers. Purchasing wood and other requirements from licensed dealers often saves you more money in the future because the durability is guaranteed. Unlicensed dealers may offer cheaper materials but the durability is questionable. Often these materials end up becoming unsuitable for your dog house and may lead to a lot of frustration. Licensed dealers are also able to advice you on the material best for your dog house with reference to the breed and personality of your dog. They are also able to provide tips on which materials can be mixed easily to save costs and produce a durable house for your dog.
Of course you can use your dog door as a window for your dog's home. These plastic, clear doors will help keep the elements out and will give your dog a place to look out if he wants to. If you are building your own house for your dog, I recommend you build an insulated dog house that is easy to clean. I would have either the roof or one of the walls open so you can easily clean your dog's home every so often. You might also want to invest in a burrow bed during the winter months or add a heater to keep your dog plenty warm.
There are a few factors to consider when selecting a dog house to purchase such as the size of the dog, the size of the backyard and the material and design of the house. Bigger doesn't always mean better: the dog should be able to enter and exit the house and lay down in it comfortably. Houses that are too big can make the interior temperature too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. There are many types of dog houses. Many immediately think of the typical house with a peaked roof and arched doorway, but there is a large variety available. The ”typical” house has a pitched roof and is the most popular style. There are also single panel flat roofs and loft roofs, which feature a sun deck on the roof. Doors on these houses are useful for temperature control. The houses can be made of plastic, metal, fiberglass or wood. Plastic ones are the easiest to clean, while the wooden ones are the most traditional. Houses with removable roofs provide easy access to the dog. Some houses are portable and some are even inflatable. Kennels refer to crates and carriers used for travel. Also available are dog tents and dog boxes. They all slightly differ and are appropriate for various uses.
