Dog food labels are intentionally made confusing so that pet owners don't realise that they're feeding their dog some awful, terrible, disgusting ingredients. Dog food companies heartlessly exploit loopholes which allows them to add a very cheap form of protein that has almost zero nutritional value to a dog instead of essential animal protein your dog needs to survive. Did you know that dog foods that claim to be come from bone, blood and animal fat are often derived from animals suffering from various ailments, and probably not the best choice for your dog. These multi-billion dollar companies are actually allowed to mix in euthanized bodies of various animals into the food you might be buying for your dog. Would you eat meat that came from a euthanized animal? Didn't think so! So why should your dog be subjected to this? Dogs can have food allergies from commercial dog food which long term for your dog can make them very uncomfortable, sick and weak. These euthanized various animals found in dog food and the animal by-products commonly found can include feathers, hair, leather, gristle and fecal waste. Pretty disgusting isn't it?
If you are like me, you may question reviews on food for dogs you find on the internet. Who are the ones actually rating the food? Is it actual dog owners, or representatives of the dog food company just trying to sell their product? Could it be a rival company trying to tell you that a truly good quality food is not worth anything? If you value your pet, you should research the different choices in dog food that you are presented with. Make sure your dog is getting the best nutrition you can afford. It may take some time and extra effort on your part to research the different foods on the market, but isn't your dog's health worth it?
Having a dog is not all about fun and play. Proper nutrition is a key element in the health and long life of your dog. A healthy dog is a happy dog. To maintain a healthy, balanced diet for your dog, you will need good dog food, common sense and a veterinarian. Dogs require six types of nutrients: water, protein, fat, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins. Those commercial pet foods billed as 100 percent complete and balanced provide all of a dog's requirements, except water. But all is not what it seems with commercial dog food. Don't short change your dog's health. Provide him with clean, fresh drinking water at all times. Water is the key to a dog's ability to regulate body temperature.
