Hey, you're reading my uncensored study of what I really thought about Build Your Own Dog House. Take notice of that this is a journal. Why am I writing this? Well, when I was thinking to Build a House for my Dog, there wasn't many real articles around. So, I thought I'd do a quick write-up to help some of you who are in the same situation I was. But be warned, I'll be going into the good and the bad points, so if that's not something you would like to read, you might may as well leave now.
A good pet house should be a complete weatherproof kennel that shields your pet from unmanageable heat, cold, wind, rain and even precipitation. The conventional houses are made of wood with a triangle roof. Building a house can be fun. However, these days, they are made out of other materials such as plastic and foam. Cedar wood is also being preferred by dog owners these days to make outdoor dog houses. Depending on your budget and your buying capacity, you could go in for economical ones or extravagant dog houses. Whatever type you choose, there is no dearth for dog houses in the market.
Secondly, if your doggy's house has windows the likelihood of them staying clean is almost none. Your dog's nose will be all over the window and it will be dirty in no time flat, meaning, he will no longer have a window to look out. Now for the most important reasons dog homes do not have windows. They simply do not do as good of a job keeping heat in as a solid insulated wall. Likewise, during the summer they let too much heat in and the house will no longer stay as cool as you would like. There are some things you can do to help this, particularly the placement of the dog house in your yard. You can place it near a fence, near your house, or under a large tree. This too will help.
There are various factors to look into while buying outdoor dog houses, the most important being the size of your dog. The pet house shouldn't be too big or too small. It should be just right to accommodate your dog inside. There should be just sufficient room for your dog to stand up, lie down and stretch. If you own more than one dog, you could go in for a duplex style house with more than one entryway. If you want something more than an ordinary looking house for your dog, you can buy with windows and shingles and even paint it to match the exteriors of your house. Dog houses even come in different architectural designs and styles.
Features and Ease of Use. The air conditioning unit is light weight (44 lbs) and has built in handles making it easy to carry. It has a digital display that is very easy to read and it has a programmable thermostat. You can adjust the temperature to be between 62 and 88 degrees. The new hand held remote makes adjustments extremely convenient. Once set the unit will automatically switch between heat and air conditioning to maintain a constant temperature. The unit is small and safe for use inside a building, too. These units are sometimes used with a dog house inside a barn or garage in extreme climates for extra protection. Maximum Versatility. These portable air conditioners can easily be moved to different spaces as needed. You might have the air conditioning unit connected to your dog's house for the majority of the year, but if your family goes camping, you can cool your tent for a few days as well. These units can also be used safely with small RV trailers and campers.
Any dog who spends a good portions of his day outdoors can benefit from a durable, insulated dog house that can withstand the wear and tear of the elements. Here is a quick overview of some of the pros and cons on different styles of dog houses and homes available and some tips for choosing one that works for you and your favorite hound.
What is the price range for the dog houses? Well, the prices vary a lot, based on your requirements and the features of the houses. You get them at a price as low as $75 and even as high as $5000. If you want a simple and plain one, you can get one for fewer than 100 dollars.
