You should also provide bedding inside your dog's house. Old towels, blankets, or sheets make good bedding. In wintertime, put a thick folded layer down for insulation from the cold ground, then put more bedding on top. In summertime, put just enough bedding in so your dog can choose to lie on the cool floor of his dog house or on the bedding. Now you have your dog house. But where should you put it? The placement of dog houses should be less about where it looks good and more about where he will like it. Most dogs will not use a poorly-placed dog house unless the weather is horrible.
There are a few factors to consider when selecting a dog house to purchase such as the size of the dog, the size of the backyard and the material and design of the house. Bigger doesn't always mean better: the dog should be able to enter and exit the house and lay down in it comfortably. Houses that are too big can make the interior temperature too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. There are many types of dog houses. Many immediately think of the typical house with a peaked roof and arched doorway, but there is a large variety available. The ”typical” house has a pitched roof and is the most popular style. There are also single panel flat roofs and loft roofs, which feature a sun deck on the roof. Doors on these houses are useful for temperature control. The houses can be made of plastic, metal, fiberglass or wood. Plastic ones are the easiest to clean, while the wooden ones are the most traditional. Houses with removable roofs provide easy access to the dog. Some houses are portable and some are even inflatable. Kennels refer to crates and carriers used for travel. Also available are dog tents and dog boxes. They all slightly differ and are appropriate for various uses.
Most dog owners have no choice but to leave their dogs outside almost throughout the day and at night. As living creatures, dogs also have feelings and deserve to be treated well. Hence, it becomes the owner's duty to provide a sheltered home for their pet which will protect them from extreme heat, cold and rain which otherwise has a tendency to upset your dog's health. One way of showing your concern is to provide your pet with proper outdoor houses. Dog houses come in different styles and materials and you can choose them depending on your individual dog needs.
