Insulated houses for dogs come in a wide variety of styles and sizes. They are also made using different materials but some materials are better than the others. Some people opt for houses made from plastic since these shelters are lightweight, cheap and they repel insects. While these units can help protect dogs from rain, snow and wind, they are not effective in retaining the heat that emanates from the dog's body. These types of pet houses can't provide ample protection from the extreme heat of the sun. There are even plastic houses that can make dogs feel hotter instead of cooling their body temperature down.
Some houses for dogs can be extraordinarily lavish. Many are designed to look like villas, mansions, palaces, castles, estates or almost anything else. Some are hooked up to electricity and feature lighting, furniture, heating and air conditioning. Some may take things a bit far, installing chandeliers, multiple floors, moulding and tinted window treatments. Those with the finances and the space can have as lavish a home for their dog as they desire. If pooch doesn't seem to be crazy about his new house – even if it's luxury – there are a few ways to remedy this problem. It's important not to make the new abode seem like a place of punishment. Being in the house should be a positive experience. Put some of his favorite toys or blankets in his house, or give him some treats in his house. It should also be as close to home as possible. Make sure that the house isn't too large or small for the dog's size, as well. If the dog still isn't crazy about his new house, just give him time. He might just need to adjust to it, especially if he is used to being indoors.
You should also provide bedding inside your dog's house. Old towels, blankets, or sheets make good bedding. In wintertime, put a thick folded layer down for insulation from the cold ground, then put more bedding on top. In summertime, put just enough bedding in so your dog can choose to lie on the cool floor of his dog house or on the bedding. Now you have your dog house. But where should you put it? The placement of dog houses should be less about where it looks good and more about where he will like it. Most dogs will not use a poorly-placed dog house unless the weather is horrible.
